For many years I have been fascinated by the workings of the mind and its connection to emotions and the body. One of my other interests includes how the environment affects our experience, particularly how cultural influences that people might not be aware of can impact them. There are many different ways of achieving health and I believe that my experience of cultural immersion allows me to be especially aware of this. If this is of interest to you, we will integrate it in our work together. I followed these interests by choosing to get a Master’s Degree in Social Work. The human potential for growth is amazing even when we have our own vulnerabilities to work with.
For over twenty years, I have been in clinical practice. I spent years working in an ER doing emergency psychiatric evaluations and medical social work. For the last fifteen years, I have been in private practice. My extensive experience lends itself to efficient assessment and problem-solving skills. I am dedicated to staying current on treatment issues through continuing education and teaching medical students at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in the department of psychiatry.
In 1996 I completed my Clinical Master’s Degree at Smith College School for Social Work. Prior to that I received a BS in Communication Studies from Northwestern University. I received my Colorado license in 1998 (license number 992133). If you would like more detailed information about my training or work history, I am happy to discuss it with you.
